The European Union and the British Nutrition Foundation have launched an interactive CD-ROM for student primary teachers to apply food-safety principles when teaching practical food work. On successful completion of the course, students receive an accredited certificate in "Food Safety in the Primary School Classroom". Road safety initiative
After a successful pilot, the Nationwide Building Society, with support from the DETR, will extend its road safety scheme this autumn. All primary children will receive a reflective disc to wear ater the clocks go back in October, and teachers will receive a curriculum-linked teaching resource pack which can be used to promote road safety and particularly the importance of visibility. ICT and Home-School Links
This project, run by Becta on behalf of the DFEE, looks at schools' use of e-mail and the Web for communication with parents and pupils, and at home use by parents and pupils.
