Our school has been downgraded from good to satisfactory despite being assessed internally as better than when it achieved the good rating in 2007 (”‘Inadequate’ schools double under new Ofsted regime”, March 5).

Our criticism of the report is at two levels. The inspectors did not allow discussion, nor did they read all of the relevant information provided. We saw at first hand the effects of minor shortcomings in science on a whole raft of other assessments.

I read with chagrin Christine Gilbert’s article in The TES in December about how current inspection “myths are still surfacing”. Clearly, my school’s Ofsted is a myth - but try explaining this to the parents. Those around me tell me they do not recognise the school they know in the report written by the inspectors.
