Inspection role

IT is an indictment of the Office for Standards in Education’s name-and-shame model that the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (TES, July 29) can claim their members took an average of 16 hours to complete their threshold application forms.

Surely a staff development-led model of inspection would ensure all teachers ha a clear understanding of what their aims were in the classroom, how they were going to achieve them, and how they might know that they had achieved their aims?

Which is, of course, substantially what the threshold form wants to know.
