I am writing to express my congratulations to all those involved in organising Newspaper Day back in March - it was our first attempt here at Sandfield.

The children were totally engrossed in the challenge, which tested so many skills across the curriculum. We found it very useful to evaluate both the final product and how we performed as a team. The detailed comments sent on to us by the judges were invaluable; we will certainly be taking their advice next time.

The children in Year 5 were very proud to hear of their commendation. Two lucky members of the class spent a thrilling day out in London, culminating in receiving the award on behalf of their peers in the Palace of Westminster.

I will be encouraging other teachers to participate next year, although that won’t be a difficult task as all my colleagues were impressed with the children’s enthusiasm for Newspaper Day and the Sandfield Times itself.

Once again, thank you for organising such an inspiring and educationally worthwhile event.
