Five new council members and an associate member have been elected by the Institute for Learning. It has 21 council members, of whom 12 are lecturers and tutors and nine are nominated by its partner organisations.

The new members are Jacki Hughes of Preston College, Rania Hafez, who leads post-compulsory initial teacher education and training at the University of East London, Anthony Earle Wilkes, an education and training adviser, John Chorley, a senior lecturer at Wolverhampton University, and Debbie Betteridge, of Ambazac, an education consultancy.

The elected associate member is Susie Andrade, who recently joined BPP Guernsey, a financial services training company, as a professional examinations tutor.
