Instrument tuition isn’t a luxury

It is virtually assumed that the study of one, or more, instruments will happen in a school belonging to the Independent Association of Prep Schools (“And on a brighter note”, Resources, 28 October). We do not consider this a luxury, but an essential element in a fully rounded education, and the benefits of this are far more wide-reaching than many would imagine. This engagement in music curriculum is what makes our schools so very special.

David Hanson, Chief executive, Independent Association of Prep Schools.
