Now that responsibility for the Commonwealth Games has been handed to Scotland, Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) has launched a set of new resources to help teachers develop the educational legacy of the games.
“The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, preceded by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, provide a huge opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for learning. Hosting these and other major sporting events provides a rich context for learning across the curriculum and opportunities to forge international partnerships,” said a spokeswoman for LTS.
Twelve ambassadors from Glasgow secondary schools have been exploring what makes a successful international school partnership and have recorded their experiences in a dedicated new blog. A number of teachers, performers and athletes have also signed up as guest bloggers: http:ltsblogs.org.ukgameslegacy
The resources include an interactive map, where teachers can record their organisation’s activities and highlight their international partnerships.
