For some of us, maths is a secret phobia. Canadian teacher C Rick Seaman reports on his interviews with three primary teachers whose long-standing maths anxiety has finally been overcome. They are now able to talk about their "comfort zone" and to teach maths well. Seaman's report, at http:www.ex.ac.ukPErnestpome11art16.htm appears in the current Philosophy of Mathematics Education Journal, edited by Paul Ernest from the University of Exeter. The contents page is at http:www.ex.ac.ukPErnestpome11contents.htm from which address the whole journal can be downloaded as a word-processed document for bedtime reading.
