(Photograph) - The latest “must have” accessory for young people, the Apple iPod, is being actively encouraged in one Edinburgh secondary. Gracemount High has embarked on an experiment, under the racy title of iPodagogy, to assess its potential as a learning tool. Apple has donated 50 iPods to the school.

Ewan Aitken, Edinburgh City CouncilUs executive member for children and families, said iPods could be used for a lot more than just music and their adaptability “could perhaps turn them into hugely powerful tools for learning”. Pupils would be involved in deciding on the best use of the iPods, Mr Aitken said, “for they know the technology the best”
