Irate at teacher’s Iraq call-up

The school my daughters attend, a high-achieving comprehensive in Epsom, has worked miracles balancing the budget and maintaing a quality education (judged “excellent” by a recent inspection). This year’s funding crisis is the worst ever, but in a double whammy, at short notice, we learn that the head of physics, a territorial soldier, has been called up for service in Iraq. The head is not optimistic about finding a replacement - and my daughter’s A-level physics exam is now just over six months away.

When did “Education, education, education” become “War, war, war !” Tony?
