Worcestershire - one of the worst-funded councils in the country - gained an extra pound;1.35 million in David Blunkett’s pound;52m handout this week.

However, the fundamental problem of the unjust funding system remains.”
Mr Cledwyn-Davies, head of Droitwich Spa high and chair of the Worcestershire Headteachers Forum, added: “It goes halfway towards meeting our shortfall in maintaining current policies. But it doesn’t address the whole issue of the iniquities of the formula.”
The seven Worcestershire MPs, who include education junior minister Jacqui Smith, have each received around 500 protest letters.
