The number of incidents of name-calling directed at Muslims in schools reported to the union had increased and there had been a smaller number of "instances of a more extreme nature where people have been attacked or spat at because they appear to be Muslim," he said. Anti-Semitic incidents are also on the increase.
Islamaphobia is a growing problem in schools following last July's bomb attacks in London, NUT leader Steve Sinnott said.
