Getting my TES at 7am on Fridays gives me an advantage over other readers. Reading Stephanie Gibson’s superb lampoon (“No swimming allowed in phonics pools”, Comment, 26 October) by 7.30am enabled me to buy shares in cotton-wool manufacturing and thereby to secure my pension - at least as long as this mania for synthetic phonics (and synthetic cotton wool) lasts.
