It's no joke

Glasgow Metropolitan College is offering the ultimate laugh in education - or is it education making 'em laugh? Enter stage left a new course entitled "Introduction to stand-up comedy". And no, it doesn't lead to a teaching qualification.

Those requiring hands-on experience to pass the course, however, may find themselves in educational surroundings. For Glasgow's Stand, where stand-up comics have their one-night stands, just happens to be in the old Woodlands Secondary school building, which once did duty as Woodlands Teachers'

Centre. Many who attended in-service events there did often mistake it all for comedy.
