Further to Jill Salt’s letter about abandoning her lesson plan during a citizenship and diversity unit lesson (Letters, October 8), as an experienced learning and skills Ofsted inspector since 1997, I would have been delighted to see any teacher do this.
It would not only demonstrate to me that they were skilled and confident about moving away from a formulaic approach, but that they had sufficient confidence in their skills and knowledge to do so even when being observed. So, well done Jill. It would be good to see more teachers and trainers having the skills and confidence to take this approach.
