While much of the rest of the world slept, things were getting a bit tasty down in Australia, where thousands of school children have helped break a Guinness World Record for the largest ever cookery lesson.

Held at the Sydney Showground and hosted by TV chef Anna Gare, the event saw participants take part in a 30-minute cooking lesson with Jamie Oliver to create his colourful Rainbow Salad Wrap made from fresh ingredients. The number of children taking part beat the previous record of 2,012, which had been held by three companies in Jilin Province, China since January 2012.

The record-breaking event kickstarted the third annual Food Revolution Day, a global fresh food initiative designed to help educate children about the importance of fresh food.

Although a Guinness World Record has been set in Australia, the cooking lesson will continue for the next 24 hours across 92 different countries, including the UK, Canada and the US, in order to break the global Guinness World Record for most participants in a cookery lesson in 24 hours (multiple venues).

Jamie Oliver and TES have teamed up to bring you a live cooking lesson for Food Revolution Day, which will be streamed live at 2pm BST today via the TES Connect website. For more details, go to www.tesconnect.com/jamieoliver.
