The Internet is bring schools in Japan’s remotest regions out of isolation.

The Mediakids project, which aims to encourage inter-school communication, has provided Oama elementary school on the southern island of Kyushu with a computer for every classroom. The children are now in regular communication with pupils in Tokyo and other large cities.
