Up to the job, but could not get one

A few years ago, I tried to secure work teaching business studies in England.

I was in England and have British citizenship. I possess an Ivy League masters of business administration and a Cert Ed, as well as having other certificates, experience and accomplishments.

I got nothing at all from 50 applications to secondary and FE. Why would that be? Could it be that secondary and FE prefer people who are minimally qualified over those with qualifications beyond minimum?
