The Labour party has accused the Government of a cover-up over the level of teacher redundancies in Northern Ireland. Labour spokesman Tony Worthington said the Government was taking risks with the future of children in the province by forcing boards of governors to make staff redundant.

He went on to claim that almost 230 lecturers in further education colleges have been made redundant in the past six years. He said: “The Government claims the economy is picking up, so why are boards of governors having their funding slashed?”
