Jobs shortage

I read with interest your article (TES Magazine, April 27) about too many teachers chasing too few jobs. The article recounted the experiences of two graduates from Liverpool Hope university. One interviewee had made 250 applications, had 13 interviews but had not found a post. While it is true that applicants face increased competition, these cases are extreme and it is important to let trainees and newly qualified teachers know this.

I trained at Liverpool Hope and qualified in March this year. I applied for nine jobs, was offered two interviews and am starting a full-time job in September. If teachers are not getting interviews or job offers, they must question the strength of their applications and interview techniques.
