Joined-up thinking on boys

THE QUALIFICATIONS and Curriculum Authority says boys do well at clear-cut questions (TES, January 14) . You then say that this supports Peter Downes’ claim that the reading level of last year’s key stage 2 English test was boy-friendly.

That really isn’t joied-up thinking! The 1999 tests were, as always, extensively trialled to ensure they were equally friendly for all children.
