On the subject of scrapes with the law, the Diary recently carried an item about the former boxer Chris Eubank in the role of champion to Brighton’s school-run mums. He had commandeered a lorry which was blocking the city’s traffic at the height of the morning rush.
Eubank appeared in court last Wednesday, charged with aggravated vehicle taking, and it is clear that he will be banned from driving if convicted.
The proceedings have not reached their conclusion but the Diary sheds a tear at the thought of Brighton without its Humvee-driving, jodhpur-wearing former middle-weight world champion school-run superhero.
