A virtual tour of religious buildings will be used to help North Lanarkshire pupils learn about other faiths and cultures.

The Holy Buildings CD-Rom is believed to be the first teaching resource of its kind in Scotland, enabling pupils to experience four different holy buildings. The CD-Rom, developed by the council’s learning centre and launched in schools last week, aims to encourage pupils to embrace cultural differences. It could be offered to other authorities.

The four buildings featured are St Aloysius Roman Catholic church, Rose Street, Glasgow; Garnethill synagogue, Hill Street, Glasgow, left; Lanarkshire central mosque, Bellshill; and Dalziel and St Andrew’s church, Motherwell.
