So Bryan Meyer (“Kent is out of touch”, Letters, 15 March) is fed up with Mike Kent complaining about Ofsted and thinks he is out of touch. I suspect that most readers would think the opposite. It is obvious from his columns that Mr Kent has a thorough understanding of what primary education should be and, like most of us, he is appalled that children are being subjected to such a data-driven agenda and restricted curriculum, merely to satisfy the whims of politicians and their narrow, short-term visions. Rather than making “vitriolic and out-of-date comments”, Mr Kent attacks only those who damage the profession, like aggressive Ofsted inspectors and dubious consultants. Oh, I’ve just noticed that Mr Meyer is a consultant.
