Sofia: I’m going to see the athletics. I’m really excited because it’s like a once-in-a-lifetime chance. When I found out, I was so excited I couldn’t speak.
Stella: I was down in England recently `cos my friend was carrying the torch.
Zoe: I like table tennis and tennis. I find them interesting. I don’t know how to explain it.
Abbie: It’s one of those sports you don’t really see on telly every day and you wouldn’t think would be in the Olympics.
Sofia: When you play it there’s like no rules, but there’s lots of rules.
Abbie: It’s small sports, kinda like your own personal sports.
Stella: I quite like the races, like running and swimming. They are the most interesting.
Sofia: It’s a bit confusing, I don’t really like to see who wins. I just like to see the skills they can do.
Zoe: I’ve got a Wii and I play tennis on it and sometimes the point goes down and then back up.
Stella: I think football is the most boring sport in the Olympics. Football is always on.
Sofia: A football match goes on every day. It’s not like a race goes on every day.
Abbie: I like the diving. But there’s also some bad people in the Olympics. Not bad like they’ve done something wrong, but there’s people who are bad at diving or bad at football who get through. And then there’s random people like me or you and they dive from a diving board in the swimming pool and they are really good, but these random people just keep getting through.
Zoe: It’s mostly people who don’t have anywhere to train.
Sofia: I find the winter Olympics quite boring. In the summer Olympics you know people and you can relate to it.
Stella: Because when it’s warm you feel active. When it’s cold, you’re like, “I just want to stay in and relax.”
Sofia: I like that the Olympics are in London. What I don’t like is that England gets most of the attention. I like the shops and the Queen.
Abbie: It’s not fair that it’s in London. Scotland is quite good. It’s got more tradition and more history.
Stella: Scotland has quite a lot of detail on it, things people don’t know.
Zoe: Edinburgh is really famous because of all the windy streets, and London is just famous for shops.
Sofia: All the news is about London. We don’t get that much mention. I think that’s why a lot of people are thinking of separating from England and being our own country, because we don’t get much attention.
Stella: I think Scotland should have put in for the Olympics, but I guess there isn’t enough space.
