KidSmart, an internet safety initiative created by PC manufacturer Tiny and internet charity Childnet International, will combine live drama and virtual reality to get the message across. Aimed at eight to 11-year-olds, their parents and primary teachers, KidSmart emphasises the value of the internet while offering strategies for safe use by children.

Gwent Theatre Group will be touring with school activity days which include a 30-minute drama and workshops until April before starting again in September. Evening seminars at schools will be run for parents and teachers by Childnet. Alternatively, teachers and parents can look up internet safety guidelines on the web and teachers download lessons plans on internet safety.

The site boasts the Kids Area, with links to 100 suitable sites and five tips for safe surfing. For more details about the scheme, drama workshops and seminars, log on to www.kidsmart.org.uk
