Kirkwall Grammar School has won the Motorola youth parliament competition for the second year running. Pupils researched and staged a debate on a Labour government’s proposals for a Scottish parliament.

In the UK-wide competition, which encourages knowledge of the parliamentary process, the category for best shadow minister went to Kirkwall’s shadow Scottish Secretary, Andrew Knox, aged 17, who accused Labour of “dangerous and divisive legislation” and “tampering with the constitution of Britain”.

Winners of the competition will visit the House of Commons and 10 Downing Street in June.
