THE Educational Institute of Scotland also criticises North Lanarkshire for failing to recognise the impact any change in Standard grade would have on the rest of schooling, down to primary level. “We cannot believe that a 5-13 programme would have any credibility in the secondary sector,” it state.

But, despite the arguments for a 10-14 sector advanced by its depute general secretary, the official line is that more evidence is needed before the union supports a change to the curriculum between P6 and S2.

Secondary heads in North Lanarkshire, however, back the authority.
