‘Lamb’ leader resigns

A headteacher who sparked controversy over a decision to send a lamb hand-reared by schoolchildren to slaughter has resigned. Andrea Charman will step down as head of Lydd Primary School in Romney Marsh, Kent, at the end of the week for “personal reasons”, Kent County Council has announced. She attracted fierce criticism from some parents and animal rights campaigners last year over the decision to cull Marcus the lamb.
