Scotland’s latest specialist school, to be announced in a week’s time, will be an unusual partnership between East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and Argyll and Bute. At a cost of pound;1.14 million over two years, a virtual school of modern languages will be set up for post-16 studets from the three authorities in an attempt to reverse the decline in the subject in upper secondary.
A key feature will be the use of dedicated electronic links to allow modern language departments to teach via e-mail, the Internet and video conferencing.
