Headteachers, of course, will not have to wait like their underlings to get their hands on their own computer courtesy of the Government. RM won the contract to supply almost 2,000 laptop computers to newly qualified and aspiring teachers by the end of next week through the Portable Computers for Headteachers 2001 scheme. It is the second yer in succession that RM has won the contract to supply the scheme. These computers (650MHz Pentium IIIs) will come with colour printers, software, connection for RM’s Internet for Learning service and a three-hour demonstration session. The scheme is funded by the Department for Education and Employment and administered by Becta.
