AUSTRALIA. VICTORIA’S 37,000 state school teachers are to receive their own notebook computer following a $100 million (Pounds 40m) deal between the state government and two computer companies.
Under the five-year contract involving computing firms Acer and Apple, teachers will be able to lease the computers through their schools for $3 (Pounds 1) a week. But before receiving a notebook, they must complete 40 hours of computer training.
