Readyfortheweekend: The Scottish Government-funded website, still available, to encourage new entrants to our profession. A few of my favourites: l Competitive salary and benefits - You’ll start on pound;21,438. And there’s a great pension .

You’ll start on pound;21,438 and probably stay until retirement if you’re a new entrant and on supply. Pension? Now we’ve had a think about it, probably too good for teachers, so we’ve some new plans to up your contributions and lower the pay-out.

- Family-friendly holidays: take time to travel, indulge your passions, or simply fit your job around your family commitments .

Because you can’t get a job anywhere near where you live, we mean travel time, as more like your daily commute.

- Career prospects: a culture of CPD is in place to enable teachers to reach their full potential .

Hmm, we had a meeting and decided CPD budgets are not really relevant. I mean, we’ve got GLOW. Chartered teachers are too expensive and we’re sorry they’ve had to pay for their training, but hey, it was good while it lasted. Additional support teaching? For some of the most vulnerable kids? . We had a look at council budgets and needed money for councillors’ limos and a monthly colour magazine.
