NEW poet laureate Andrew Motion seems to have made more impression on the Prime Minister than on pupils. In a TES survey earlier this year Nobel prizewinner Seamus Heaney won 20 per cent of the votes of 15 to 17-year-olds as the replacement for the late Ted Hughes. The Oxford and Radley College-educated Motion failed to make the top three in our poll. Simon Armitage came second. Rap poet Benjamin Zephaniah came third.
