Learn mutual respect, but not phone hacking

I note that the review of “the standards that teachers are expected to possess”, led by Sally Coates, says: “Setting a clear expectation that teachers must not undermine fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”

It is interesting, given the events of the past few years and especially the past few weeks, that teachers are expected to uphold the “British values” of the rule of law, and “mutual respect” but others - senior police officers, politicians, newspaper editors for example - are not.
