The article about the rebuilding of Pimlico School under the Private Finance Initiative (TES, May 16) mentions that the school is to be rebuilt on the same site. No mention is made of where the students are to be taught during the three-year rebuilding period.

The parents of the present school population are in a state of high anxiety, because all three bidders and Westminster Council are proposing that the existing school remains on site throughout. The disruption and disturbance that will result from teaching in the middle of a building site will inevitably lead to damage to the educational performance of the school.

It seems that the present generation of schoolchildren are being sacrificed on the altar of PFI, and the parents are powerless to stop it.

Some in-depth reporting of PFI in schools is needed to increase public awareness - I hope you will rise to this challenge.
