The Connecting Communities Project aims to train 2,500 community learning practitioners in ICT by 2004-5. The scheme works by training 250 people, each of whom then trains 10 people. Communities Scotland has identified 250 local authority and voluntary partners who provide community learning, including activists, development officers, librarians and teachers.

A training pack demonstrates how ICT can be used in different contexts, for example, to design a local website. Follow-up support will ensure that the initial 250 train their 10 recruits properly and ScotCAT credits will be given to the 250 trainers.

David Patterson and David Boag of Learning and Teaching Scotland will talk on The Connected Community at 10am, September 25.
