Lecturers walk out

Askham Bryan College in Yorkshire was hit by strike action this week, the latest institution to be affected by the University and College Union’s campaign to force colleges to honour a five-year-old pay deal.

Barry Lovejoy, the union’s head of further education, said: “It’s a real shame that things have come to this. The staff are not greedy; they are merely asking for the money they should have been paid four years ago.”
