An expert Wellcome
The Royal Collection and the Wellcome Collection are joining forces to deliver two study days on anatomy for key stage 4 and 5 pupils, introducing them to the scientific knowledge revealed in Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings.
What is it?
In the morning, pupils will explore modern-day medical issues in a series of hands-on activities at the Wellcome Collection’s gallery in London. Peter Abrahams, professor of clinical anatomy at the University of Warwick, will give a talk about the relevance of Da Vinci’s studies to anatomists today. In the afternoon, pupils can explore the largest ever collection of his drawings in the Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomist exhibition at Buckingham Palace. Pupils will be able to see how medical knowledge has evolved, consider the impact of Da Vinci’s work and have the opportunity to discuss their ideas with an expert anatomist.
What else?
The study days will run on 12 and 19 September. Places are limited to 60 a session. Visit www.royalcollection.org.uklearning for more information and to book. Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomist opens on 4 May.
