Drawing nearer
Martin Clayton, curator of the Royal Collection’s Leonardo da Vinci exhibitions, says the drawings are “the only surviving evidence about his activities and provide 90 per cent of the information we know about Leonardo today”. Alongside the exhibitions, the Royal Collection is hosting workshops so pupils can get closer to the artist and learn about his style and technique.
What is it?
The workshops are available for key stage 2 (Years 5 and 6), KS3 and KS4. They introduce pupils to Da Vinci’s life, consider the aims of his art and the role anatomy played in his designs, explore the materials used in his drawings through touch and sight, and study human proportion.
What else?
Workshops run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during June, July and September. Morning or afternoon sessions are available, with a maximum of 30 pupils a group. For more information visit www.royalcollection.org.uklearning.
