Use the article as a springboard for a creative and stimulating approach to “the changing distribution of economic activity and its impact”, which is introduced as a theme at KS3 (PoS 6h) and is part of GCSE and A-level specifications:

* investigate the changing distribution of film production, eg the rise and fall of the British film industry and the rise of Bollywood

* examine the factors that explain the location of these production centres

* describe and explain the changing distribution of cinemas within towns and cities, and, in particular, assess the environmental impact of the development of the out-of-town entertainment complex

* analyse the changing pattern of cinema attendance - an internet search will yield a great deal of data at the global scale, eg www.unesco.orgcultureindustriescinema html_engmarket.shtml
