KS1

Pupils should read and listen to “The Owl and the Pussy Cat”, and in groups decide what is a) normal and b) unusual about their wedding, and what a runcible spoon looks like.

KS2

Pupils could write a story entitled the Strange Wedding.

KS3

Read Walter Scott’s poem “Lochinvar” to pupils, and ask them to write fair Ellen’s diary entries for the eve of the wedding, the wedding day, and a date six months later.

KS4

Study Chapter 2 of Good Wives by Louisa M Alcott, and set groups of students to discuss the importance in the extract of summertime, fashion, roses, drinking, family.

KS5

Students should read Chapter 26 of Jane Eyre and consider what it reveals about the character of Mr Rochester. How far is he heroic? How far is he villainous?
