A groundbreaking CD-Rom which includes eyewitness testimony from 52,000 survivors of the Holocaust and their rescuers will be available free to schools from January.

The resource is published by the Holocaust Educational Trust, which runs “lessons from Auschwitz” courses for post-16s and teachers and organises visits to the death camp in Poland.

“We’re facing a time when many survivors are elderly and can no longer visit schools,” said Kay Andrews, head of education. “We hope pupils will not only understand these catastrophic events but take away lessons for their own lives. It’s easier to identify with the individual testimony of one person, than a with a mass of 6 million.”
