Lessons go unheard

One in five children is struggling to hear speech properly in class, the Royal National Institute for the Deaf claims. A study of 2,500 children, shows that more than 1 million youngsters could be missing out at school.

The charity says brains of under-14s can find it hard to distinguish speech in noisy environments.
