Toddlers left in nurseries for seven hours a day are more antisocial, worried and upset, yet also more confident and sociable, government research has found.
An evaluation of the pound;370 million Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative, set up to provide childcare in some of the poorest parts of the country, found children were more likely to display antisocial behaviour the longer they spent in nurseries. It also found that putting toddlers under three-and-a-half years old with older children meant they did better academically but were more upset.
