Let 16-year-olds drink in pubs, says Lib Dem

YOUNG people should be allowed to drink in pubs from the age of 16, Liberal Democrat youth spokesman Lembit Opik argued this week. Speaking at the launch of the party’s youth manifesto, Mr Opik said: “If you’re ld enough to bring up children when you’re 16 you shouldn’t be arrested for having a drink in the pub.” But he admitted that it was not official party policy to lower the legal age for buying alcohol.
