Let pupils speak, says professor

Children should have more say in planning and organising institutions dealing with education, health and housing, said Professor Priscilla Alderson in her inaugural professorial lecture at the Institute of Education in London. Children are capable of much more than adults often believe, she said. The United Nations has criticised the UK Government for not allowing children to appeal or even speak at exclusion hearings.
