I agree wholeheartedly with Mr Gareth J Evans ( TES Aug 9 ) about the decline and abuse of our beloved English Literature. Eric Hadley’s idea of reducing great works of literature to American TV trash is unpardonable.

I myself mastered the works of Shakespeare in the old fashioned way and am accordingly teaching my son that way - play by play. I shall certainly like to preserve the status quo of those who can and those who can’t.
