I am annoyed at the present teacher training situation. I have tried several times to enter teaching and on each occasion I failed to secure a position. The reasons given are that I either do not possess the relevant degree or I do not have conventional qualifications.

But I have three degrees: MSc (York) in biological computation, BSc (Sund) in environmental biology and a BSc (Open) in science. The degrees each have adequate coverage of mathematics, which I wish to teach.

With the present shortage of maths teachers I thought I would be well placed for a career in teaching. I think the main reason I amnbsp;discriminated against is my stammer, which I have learnt to accept and feel comfortable with.

I am willing to give up a good, well-paid career (senior analyst programmer for a blue-chip company) for teaching. Is there any hope for me?
