Letters Extra: Disjointed government?

There appears to be no need for the expense of the year-long government funded study to help teachers of gifted and talented infants (TES 8 Nov).

The curriculum guidance for the foundation stage, published by the DfEE in 2000 states on page 11 of that document: "...relevant and appropriate content that matches the different levels of young childrens' needs".

The Government should be aware of its own provision for the "G and Ts" or is it a case of one hand not knowing what the other is doing?

Hardly a good example of "joined up government", and a waste of council tax payers' money.
